CEO of Foxtel Media, Mark Frain, has a simple philosophy for business: work hard, execute well and be present. All of which needs to be delivered at the speed of business, an unrelenting requirement.
Throughout his career Mark has been a driving force behind the redefinition of the television advertising model. Mark has also been a leading voice advocating for the shift from a traditional television spend to an ‘all digital video’ media buy taking the battle to the major global players and most recently exploring the opportunities that multiple currencies provide.
Mark describes the defining theme of his career with Foxtel Media as the ability to see things differently and do things differently but always with a customer-first mindset. After pioneering new forms of multi-platform integration for several years he was promoted to Sydney Sales Director in 2010. He was then appointed National Sales & Marketing Director in 2011 taking on responsibility for sales and revenue growth across all MCN divisions: TV, Digital, Mobile and Sport. He later became Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, before being made CEO of Foxtel Media in July 2018.
Under Mark’s leadership and strong focus on streaming, Foxtel Media has been on an exponential rise, with digital ad revenue up 49% year-on-year*. Underpinning this was the most recent launch of an ad tier on premium entertainment service, BINGE, steering the group into new frontiers of watchability. The launch set the benchmark for the approach to advertising on SVOD platform, not only locally but also globally, with a strategy that was focussed on excellent customer experience and high levels of attention for the advertisers.
The next frontier revolves around the vision to become 100% IP led where all the learnings and experiences over the past few years will be applied to scaling the business with a digital first mindset and a back-drop of premium, high engaging content.
