EE provides almost unprecedented choice and flexibility to its broadband customers taking television services. Its own TV offer, EE TV, is available via two EE set-top boxes, each using the OS/UX developed for EE by YouView. EE TV Box Pro gives customers the choice of receiving linear television via DTT or in streaming-only mode, while EE TV Box Mini is an IP-only device. Customers can also access EE TV via an operator app on Apple TV 4K devices (which use Apple’s tvOS platform). Complementing these possibilities, EE offers its broadband customers the Sky Stream set-top box, featuring Sky TV as an alternative television offer (running on Sky’s own Entertainment OS). We hear about the market rationale for offering TV in so many ways and explore the technology and customer experience implications. You will also hear how EE TV is doubling down on its role as super-aggregator.
