This session will explore how STV Player, Scotland's leading commercial BVoD platform, is growing viewing and increasing advertising revenue. Its half year results for 2024 announced it had delivered its most successful first half-year ever – combining the rights held by sport (Euros) alongside other ITV1 content, but also through third party acquisitions, including long-running soaps and drama, which have allowed it to increase its reach beyond its Scottish market. ​STV Player represents 39% of STV’s total reach, a number which continues to grow, and in this session, we'll hear what that means for the future of the broadcaster. We'll hear about the strategies it is employing to attract more youngsters, or convert older broadcast fans, as well as build a sustainable commercial model through a blended approach of linear and on-demand advertising. STV is joined by All3Media International to discuss the value of content that reaches and sustains audiences well beyond Scotland, exemplified by soap Brookside achieving over 20m streams since launch (70% outside of Scotland) - making them a player on the global map.
