Shattering stereotypes and building new frontiers
Introducing Gamechangers, The Media Leader's dynamic program celebrating the trailblazing women who are revolutionizing the media landscape—shaping the future, spearheading innovation, and sparking transformative change.
Inspired by our foundational principles of disruption, inclusion, courage, and excellence, we first introduced this initiative in 2023 to honor the top 50 women in television. This latest evolution expands our vision, celebrating women in media across all sectors and levels of experience throughout the year. We are thrilled to reintroduce Gamechangers, especially now, as this new version empowers us to spotlight the incredible contributions of women throughout the industry, transcending the boundaries of a single media focus.
At The Media Leader, our mission is to craft programmes and series that stand out from the crowd, offering something truly unique. We will go beyond mere list-making; we breathe life into our initiatives, just like with our Future 100 series and The Media Leader Club. Gamechangers is no exception. We aim to empower the voices within, foster meaningful connections, and unite communities poised to drive transformation.
Our strategy is to ignite inspiration by hosting Gamechangers sessions at our events, delivering cutting-edge news and interviews online, and sparking engaging conversations through our podcasts. We aim to illuminate and celebrate talent with thought-provoking leadership and insightful opinions on The Media Leader. While continuing to create dynamic cohorts and special features like the Top 50 Women Gamechangers in TV, we are seizing the moment to shine a light on diverse areas and communities, ensuring their remarkable talent and achievements receive the recognition they truly deserve.

The Media Leader partners with Join Our Table to celebrate 50 Black Women in Media
We are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with Join Our Table to shine a spotlight on talented women of colour who are making big strides in today's media industry.
Join Our Table has been a regular partner at Adwanted Events in recent years, and emerged at Cannes Lions in 2022 when eight visionary women identified the glaring absence of Black British women at the festival.
In year one of the partnership, Join Our Table and The Media Leader came together to identify the first 50 black women we collectively felt deserved the spotlight for this launch initiative, with a view to making this an annual occurrence and opening to a wider entry and voting system in 2026.
Elizabeth Anyaegbuna, co-founder of media agency sixteenbynine and a founding sister of Join Our Table said: "At Join Our Table, we believe meaningful change happens when visibility meets opportunity. Our partnership with The Media Leader to spotlight 50 remarkable Black women in media isn't just about recognition—it's about reshaping the industry's narrative from the inside out. These women aren't merely participants in media; they're architects of its future. By amplifying their voices and achievements, we're not asking for a seat at the table—we're building a larger, more inclusive one where Black female talent isn't the exception, but an essential part of the conversation."
James Longhurst, content director at The Media Leader, added: "This partnership is the first of what we hope will be many initiatives we launch over the next 12 months. We are excited about the opportunity to celebrate the industry, especially the incredible talent who continue to shape and elevate the way we work. We welcome working with more partners like Join Our Table to shine a spotlight on the brilliant women doing amazing things in media."
